  • Top Of The Park – Located on the top of a hotel on the east side of downtown Cincinnati, Top Of The Park offers unprecedented views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River.
  • American Sign Museum – This location is a museum that specializes in preserving the amazing history of advertising signs in the USA. Enough said.
  • Cincinnati Art Museum – Sitting atop Mt. Adams is this historic museum. You can’t go wrong with photographing a wedding in an art museum.

The city has amazing wedding venues, skyline views, and that cool mix of old and modern architecture, but working in the middle of all that energy means you have to prepare for the unexpected. And prepare your guests too.

Traffic hits hard. Downtown traffic doesn’t care that it’s your wedding day. Reds games, Bengals games, FC Cincinnati games, concerts at Heritage Bank Center, or random construction can turn a simple five-minute drive into a twenty-minute delay. I always plan extra time because you never know when a lane will close or when everyone decides to head into the city at once. Parking adds to the fun. Guests scramble for garages, vendors circle blocks looking for a spot, and valet lines sometimes move slower than a Sunday morning. When you’re on a timeline, those minutes disappear fast.

Navigation becomes another hurdle. Out-of-town guests don’t always understand Cincinnati’s one-way streets or the way some roads twist around buildings. GPS loves to reroute at the worst possible time, so people often end up calling for directions while you’re trying to keep the day on track.

If you want clean backgrounds or quiet moments, you have to time things perfectly. Otherwise, someone in a Bengals jersey will stroll right through your first-look shots. It’s just part of the downtown experience.

Then there’s vendor logistics. Loading zones might be full, elevators might be slow, and some venues only allow certain delivery windows. Everyone has to work efficiently because there’s little room for error in tight urban spaces. When one delay happens, it usually triggers a chain reaction.

I love being a destination photographer because each place pushes me to see stories in a new way. Palm Springs always hits me with that perfect mix of desert stillness and bold mid-century color. I instantly wanted to chase sunlight across the mountains and golf course. The setting brought a mix of glam and calm to their desert wedding photos.

Then there’s the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. Shooting there feels powerful. I walked along the Tidal Basin with the wedding couple. The memorial offers a unique way to experience a national monument. It was a completely different creative gear, and I loved switching into it.

Portland, Indiana, brings me back to small-town comfort. I looked for quiet textures, open fields, and those little details that make hometown stories feel personal. Since this was my first wedding ever, I was unsure what I was doing. It reminds me that beauty doesn’t need to be big to be meaningful.

Wheeling, West Virginia, adds grit and charm to the mix. The old bridges, the river, and the historic brick streets give me endless ways to frame people in places that feel lived-in and real. I loved this downtown wedding venue.
