For this great summer 2023 Dayton senior photography session, a Vandalia-Butler High School senior hired me to photograph in and around Vandalia, Ohio. As this city is very special to me, I had plenty of ideas of where to photograph him. We started at the high school, moved to Seger Park, and ended up on National Drive in the city’s central business district. We finished up our senior pictures session down by the river in the secluded Aullwood MetroPark at the south side of Englewood dam.
In the middle of summer I got a call from this Kettering Fairmont High School senior’s mom regarding senior portrait photography in Dayton. We talked several times before she decided to book me to capture photos of her daughter. I was extra excited to book the daughter due to our shared love of Taylor Swift. It would be many weeks before I got to photograph her, and I looked forward to it.
During the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of photographing my first Cincinnati senior pictures session at Memorial Hall OTR. Mem hall in Over The Rhine’s Washington Park sits just to the south of Music Hall. These were taken of a kid I’ve known since birth. I used to work with his mom and have been friends with his dad for almost 20 years. For this session I had 3 hours inside this Cincinnati concert venue, and we used every minutes.
In July 2023 many of my worlds collided with a once-in-a-lifetime senior photo session behind the scenes after the close of the CenterPointe Dayton Air Show. I was contacted by a friend-of-a-friend to photograph his son, a senior at Bellbrook High School just south of Dayton Ohio. We discussed the upcoming senior session and how it would take place at the air show. I didn’t really understand how we’d get access to do this, but I trusted his judgement.
There are not enough words to describe how much I love senior photography on the University of Dayton campus. Within the span of two spring weekends this year, I photographed two groups of UD seniors both in groups and individually. I loved this so much because I love senior photos and I worked at UD from 2007-2021. I know and have photographed every inch of that campus. It is amazing to me to get to photograph college seniors at the height of the graduation year.
