From 2007 until 2021 I was an unofficial photographer for the University of Dayton. My primary role was in I.T., but I often walked UD’s campus with my camera.
The Dayton Arcade, a place I have photographed dozens of times since 2017 is lit up beautifully at night. These nighttime photos of the Dayton Arcade Commercial Building, entrance, and The Hub are so beautiful. The lighting outside the building is done so well. Cross Street Partners did a fantastic job as the lead developer of the Dayton Arcade.
In September 2021 I was commissioned by the University of Dayton’s Office Of The President to photograph Dr. Erica Spina. He was attending various classes at The Hub Powered By PNC in The Dayton Arcade. For a couple of hours, I followed him around, photographing his interactions with students and professors. I tried very hard to not interrupt him or the classes to capture photos. I just wanted to capture the scenes as they unfolded.
The Wright Stop Plaza building in downtown Dayton Ohio is Greater Dayton RTA’s crown jewel. This beautiful building at the corner of Main Street and 3rd Street has recently been updated and beautified. The uplighting and green LED lighting make this building stand out among the other Dayton architecture. Nighttime Dayton Ohio photos can be beautiful.
In July 2021 I gained legal access to the former Mendelson’s building in Dayton, Ohio. The building is being redeveloped by Crawford Hoying. As part of my exploration of this historic Dayton building, I was able to access to roof. I access each floor as well as the iconic water tower on the roof. Below are photos of the most interesting things I found on each floor of this amazing and large warehouse in Dayton.
We went to one of the Dayton area’s most prolific Christmas traditions, Clifton Mill. This mill on a creek in Clifton Ohio features more than 4 million lights and a huge Santa Claus collection. Client Mill is a historic grist mill on a creek near Dayton Ohio. The Christmas lights, Santa Clauses, and water wheels make this a magical Christmas tradition.
The Centre City building in Dayton Ohio sits at the intersection of Fourth Street and Main Street. Although abandoned, this building is a beautiful historic skyscraper. Driving into or around the city, you can easily see this yellow and green brick skyscraper from anywhere. It is an iconic piece of the city’s history, and plans are currently being developed to revitalize this building.
I recently visited the Wright Brothers historic places including the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, a National Park in the USA. This small but historic area of Dayton is where the Wright Brothers had their bicycle shop and eventually invented manned flight. Spend an afternoon at this great Dayton landmark. The area of Third Street has many beautiful and historic buildings.
The Biltmore Towers building in downtown Dayton, Ohio is an apartment complex at the corner of 1st Street and Main Street. This historic building has a really cool neon sign, which is my favorite. When I visited Biltmore Towers, the lobby was under renovation. These photos are only of the exterior because I couldn’t get inside.
620 Geyer Street in the Dayton View Historic District is an abandoned warehouse with an unique shape. The wedge shaped or pie shaped building sits in the middle of an old neighborhood and is locked up. It is a beautiful reminder of the history of Dayton, Ohio.
