How I Photographed A Marriage Proposal In Dayton Ohio

On a rainy but beautiful Saturday night in May 2020, I photographed a surprise wedding proposal on a football field in Centerville Ohio. How I photographed a marriage proposal in Dayton Ohio was all about timing and preparedness. It ended up happening in the dark due to the football stadium lights turning off at 10 pm. He took too long to get to the field, so the automatic lights shut off. The bride’s family and the groom’s family were present for this marriage proposal. It was really sweet and fun to photograph such a special moment. The groom’s attitude was fantastic because she said “yes.”

Several family members had set up a blow-up video screen on the field to show a slideshow of the couple’s relationship. The family sat in the stands for about 90 minutes while awaiting the bride and groom. Find My iPhone (as it was called then) was very helpful in determining how long until the couple walked into the stadium. Also, the sunset was unreal which made the evening even more special.

This couple was thankful that I was able to capture their real live proposal as well as their family and friends who were in attendance. It was the first time as a professional photographer that I’ve been able to capture a real engagement (real proposal). It was great to photograph a proposal because I’ve heard they are really fun and unique. I can be hired to shoot your proposal, and I take precautions to not ruin the surprise. Having seen other photographers’ social media posts of proposals, I was also looking to photograph a proposal. When I got the email to shoot this, I was incredibly excited. This was just after Covid started, so I was masked the entire time, as a precaution.

Here is the testimonial from the groom who hired me: “Kevin was excellent! His pictures turned out very well, he was flexible, affordable, friendly with everyone, and turned the pictures around quickly. Cannot ask for more and everyone was thrilled with his services. Highly recommend!” – Tyler R.
