When I saw that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were coming to Riverbend Music Center, I immediately contacted the publication for which I shoot concerts. I was on the list for months leading up to the July 2024 Cincinnati concert. A few days before the concert I received approval from Riverbend and the band’s management, […]
During my 10th year as a concert photographer based in Dayton, Ohio, I finally photographed a concert at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. I got approved to shoot Dave Matthews Band (sixth time) for Cincinnati CityBeat. DMB has been my favorite music group since August 8, 1998, so photographing them is an amazing thrill. […]
In April 2024, Bruce Springsteen made good on his Columbus Ohio tour stop. He had postponed twice during 2023, so the hype for his return was immense. While I didn’t get to stay for the concert, I was one of three professional concert photographers who had the honor of photographing Bruce. When he first came […]
The Avenged Sevenfold concert at Cincinnati Ohio’s Heritage Bank Center was a different but good experience. Although I had never listened to the group, I was intrigued at the prospect of photographing them. I will often not listen to an artist ahead of time. I want my three songs of concert photography along with the […]
During the summer of 2023 I had the opportunity for a quick trip to New York City, my sixth. I took my nephew on a sightseeing trip to some of NYC’s most iconic locations. Near the top of that list for me, a concert photographer and concert lover, was touring Madison Square Garden. This is the most famous venue in the world.
I have wanted to photograph Grace Potter for several years. The concert photos of her that some of my concert photographer friends post are always really wild. I wanted to see her for myself. In October 2023 I had the chance to photograph her and her band at the Andrew J Brady Music Center in Cincinnati. Since it was so late in the year, the concert took place inside.
In November 2023 I photographed my 2nd concert at Andrew J Brady Music Center in Cincinnati Ohio. The opening act was Eddie 9V, a blues-rock group with a definite style. This group was made up of some eclectic members with the lead singer not being able to stand still for a second. It is really everything you want to see in a concert performer. They were opening for Grace Potter.
In May 2023, we were in Nashville Tennessee to see night 3 of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour at Nissan Stadium across the Cumberland River from downtown. The first two nights of Nashville concerts were beautiful and warm. Unfortunately, our concert was on Sunday and featured a 3.5 hour performance by Taylor preceded by a 5.5 hour thunderstorm delay. 70000 fans, and hundreds more workers were hunkered down in every nook and cranny of Nissan Stadium from 5pm until 10:30pm due to a nasty, hours-long string of thunderstorms.
As a professional concert photographer and long-time concertgoer, I have been trying to see all the legendary musicians before they stop touring. To that end, I recently photographed Barry Manilow at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center. This August 2023 concert featured the 80 year old Manilow singing all of his hit songs during a nearly two hour show. The stamina he still has to sing and move around the stage was astounding.
On a Wednesday night in August 2023 I photographed the Gaslighter tour stop of The Chicks. This show took place at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus, Ohio, one of the best arenas in Ohio. As usual with The Chicks, we had to shoot FOH (front of house/sound board) but I didn’t care. I am always thankful for every concert I photograph. I usually take 30 seconds when in position to remember how lucky I am.
