What Should My Photographer’s Arrival Time Be At My Wedding

Intro

The photographer’s arrival time is a detail that can make all the difference in your wedding day. Something as simple as one vendor not arriving on time can have ripple effects throughout the day. Below, you’ll find the reasons to have your wedding photographer start at different times throughout the day.

Why The Photographer’s Arrival Time Matters

Let’s say your wedding begins at 4:30pm, and you want your photographer to arrive only 30 minutes early. On the way to your event, the photographer encounters a road closure or flat tire. Because there is only a 30-minute buffer between arrival time and ceremony time, the 30 minutes can quickly disappear. At that point, you have the choice of pushing back the ceremony or having your wedding without a photographer. Either way, imagine the anxiousness you’d be feeling as the bridge or groom.

Buffer Time

In my 236 weddings, I have found that my arrival time being during the getting ready period, hours before the wedding, provides better photos for me and less anxiousness for you. I am usually the second vendor you encounter on the wedding day after the hair/makeup artist. Part of my job is to reassure you that everything is going well and that your day will be great. Knowing that your wedding photographer has arrived at your wedding well before the ceremony cuts down on your worry. Venues such as The Dayton Arcade have large getting-ready facilities allowing you, the wedding party, and the photographer to have plenty of space (also very important)
