On several podcasts, I heard the founder of Ideaction Consulting, Sam Jacobson, shared an idea that really helped my wedding photography business. For sales, he has been able to identify our buyer types, and wow, are they accurate. I will tell you what I heard from his times as a podcast guest. I hope that when you read this, you identify who you are and see how my services, my website, and I appeal to you, the wedding couple. My interpretation of my wedding client types below is mine and is not what Mr. Jacobson says verbatim.
Clients who relate to me find a common thread between us. The wedding couple, either one or both partners, feels a connection with me, the wedding photographer. Some my relate to my approach to photographing weddings. Others may relate to my love of music and concert photography.

We have all gone to a store, car dealership, or travel website and dreamed about purchasing something amazing. For me, it is usally dreamining about another trip to London, England. With my clients, I hope they are dreaming about how they can see themselves in my photos. I want these types of clients to look at a Dayton Arcade wedding photo and say “that will be me next year.”
This type of person wants 100% of the information to make a sound, reasonable purchase that may be backed by research and reviews. Since I began my photography business in 2007, I have optimized this website for these wedding couples. In general, I am not a boss type, but I have many wedding couples who are. I can tell these couples because they come prepared to hire me. They’ve made up their mind that I am the wedding photographer for them. It could be for dozens of different reasons, but the boss knows what they want. In my personaly life, I fly a specific airline, and no others. When traveling, I am a boss type by immediately booking the flight and airline I always do. I don’t mess around.
Every one of you fits one of more of these buyer types. You may be a dreamer for travel but an analyzer for wedding photography. Maybe you are a relator with personal decisions and a boss type at work. I hope this helps you see your own type and to appreciate other types when people come to you for goods, services, or work.
