Benham’s Grove, a smaller Dayton wedding venue consistently delivers beautiful weddings and fun receptions. Be sure to plan for rain, as there are limited indoor spaces. In January 2024, Benham’s Grove announced the addition of a giant new indoor event center on the south side of the property. This is slated to open in 2025 and is progressing nicely. I’ve driven by several times, and it is a beautiful building unlike any other Dayton venue.
Located in Centerville, Ohio, Benham’s Grove offers a charming setting for small weddings and receptions. The historic house on the property provides a lovely space for the bridal party to prepare. Wedding photographers in Dayton, Ohio, will appreciate the gazebo as a picturesque backdrop for ceremonies, while the pond offers another good photo spot—just be mindful to angle away from the nearby trash dumpsters and parking lot to the south.
Getting Ready in the Gerber House, a 19th-century home, is a decent but warm experience. There is little air conditioning, so be sure to bring fans for the preparation room. Centerville is making upgrades to this house, so expect a better experience in 2025 and beyond. The cottage, a small outbuilding, is also getting upgrades. It gets quite hot in the summer when the groom and groomsmen are getting dressed. Fans are a must-bring to this venue.
Benham’s Grove in Centerville, Ohio, is a charming and versatile wedding venue that combines historic elegance with natural beauty, making it an ideal location for your big day. Here are a few reasons why you should consider hosting your wedding at Benham’s Grove:
As a wedding photographer in Dayton, Ohio, I photograph weddings at this venue every year or two. Located near the intersection of Main Street and 725 in Centerville, Ohio, this historic property offers a charming setting. Despite its location on a busy street, wedding ceremonies and receptions here remain peaceful and feel like a countryside escape. If you’re planning a Dayton-area wedding, you’ll love the stunning wedding photos captured at this quaint and picturesque venue—I certainly do!

venue in Centerville Ohio. This is Centerville Ohio’s best indoor-outdoor wedding venue. I assured the couple we would be able to knock out the formal photos and family photos before the rain took over. With only about one minute to spare, all the photos were done and everyone made it inside. The photos turned out great, and these were by far the best Benham’s Grove wedding photos I have ever taken.
I really enjoyed creating wedding portraits with this couple. They were not the laugh-a-lot couple, but they were great at interacting with one another. They were up for anything and willing to walk all over the property. I think the puddle reflection photo is stunning. You can see the love in their eyes. I also love the dark moody colors in the photos. The rain and clouds really brought out the deep greens and browns. Due to our limited window for photos, I was really surprised at how well the wedding party was able to accomplish what I was looking for. A big thanks to them and to Benham’s Grove for being the best Centerville Ohio indoor-outdoor wedding venue.
One of my favorite photos below is the up close one of them kissing with the streams of water from the fountain blurred in front. I like the one behind the party barn with the puddle reflection. I think most people stay at eye level but I often go high or low to get unique angles. To get the best reflection, getting right against the puddle works best.
This property can be easy to miss due to the four lanes of busy Centerville traffic. If coming from the North, go past Bills Donuts on the left and you’ll see the sign. Those coming from the South, go past the historic downtown district and it will be immediately on your right. If you get to Alex Bell Road or 725, you have gone too far.
