Muna, a great women-led rock band, was the second musical act to open for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. This took place in June 2023 at PayCor Stadium in Cincinnati Ohio. They played to a mostly full NFL football stadium that was anxiously awaiting Taylor’s biggest-ever concert. Their set was amazing to me, and I got to hear it the next night as well. I am in love with “What I Want” and can’t get enough of it.
Additionally, the first opener was Gracie Abrams who performed a good set of quieter music that directly preceded Muna. Afterward, Taylor would take the stage.
I had the pleasure of shooting this concert for Cincinnati CityBeat which allowed me to live out my live music photographer dreams. During Muna’s performance, I fell in love with one of their songs as well.
Muna, the electrifying trio hailing from Los Angeles, is revolutionizing the pop music scene with their raw and authentic sound. Comprised of lead vocalist Katie Gavin, guitarist Josette Maskin, and keyboardist Naomi McPherson, this band is unapologetically breaking barriers and pushing boundaries with each note they play.
Muna’s music is a captivating blend of vibrant pop melodies, introspective lyrics, and infectious beats. Their lyrics venture into uncharted territories, fearlessly exploring themes of love, identity, and mental health. With each song, they delve deep into the human experience, inviting listeners to question societal norms and challenge the status quo.
What sets Muna apart is their unflinching commitment to authenticity. They wear their hearts on their sleeves, creating a profound connection with their audience. Although their emotionally charged performances leave an indelible mark, the band fearlessly expresses their vulnerabilities onstage, making every concert a breathtaking experience.
As Muna continues to captivate audiences worldwide, their music serves as a rallying cry for individuality and self-acceptance. In an era where conformity often takes center stage, Muna fearlessly challenges the norm with their unapologetic blend of pop music and activism.
Prepare to be enchanted by Muna’s magnetic sound and inspired by their unwavering spirit. Lastly, this band is leading a musical revolution, proving that authenticity can shake the world.
