The Carrie Underwood concert at Cincinnati Ohio’s Heritage Bank Center was awesome. I didn’t know what to expect from her show but had been a fan of hers since American Idol. She came out and gave it 100% with her beautifully sound voice. For my three songs, typical for a concert photographer, she energetically danced around the stage. Many times I see artists standing in one spot for the entire show but not her. I was abnormally excited about photographing her for some reason, and the excitement was rewarded with a great show.
Once again I was credentialed by Cincinnati CityBeat as I am with a lot of the bigger shows. I do shoot for another publication that I love just as much. Carrie’s concert was a soundboard shoot and not a pit shoot.
This historic Cincinnati concert arena venue sits on the bank of the Ohio River just east of Great American Ball Park. Opened in 1975 as Riverfront Coliseum, most of the world’s biggest music stars have played it. Honestly, it shows its age by its lack of appropriate numbers of women’s restrooms, tight concourse area, and less than ample administrative areas. It is well-run and always popular with concertgoers.
