The large hall formerly housed steam-powered electric generators but not is full of natural light and is perfect for huge weddings. There are smaller rooms that can be used for cocktail hours, quiet spaces for guests, and more. The bridal suite upstairs is elegant and large. It is on the 2nd floor and is gigantic with a hair and makeup area, eating area, refrigerator, ice machine, and tons of natural light. The groom’s suite downstairs is masculine and features showers, a locker room, and plenty of room for the guys to stretch out.

The Most Perfect Downtown Dayton Wedding Venue A Love Story
The main reception area can accommodate 300 seated guests. The first floor is the area for weddings and receptions and is flooded with natural light by two-story windows lining the southern wall. At the west end of this historic building is the largest bar of any Dayton wedding venue. At the east end is a dedicated catering and cocktail hour room. Just below the main level is a cocktail hour room that is open to the reception area. It is the best wedding venue any wedding couple could ask for. Perfect!

Dayton’s Best Historic Wedding And Reception Venue
In August 2020, I photographed one of Dayton’s best wedding and reception venues (for the 4th time). Dayton’s Steam Plant is the perfect downtown Dayton wedding venue. The Steam Plant Dayton is a former DP&L steam generation plant just a few blocks east of the new Dayton Metro Library situated near the Cannery District and the Webster Station District.
The Steam Plant Dayton, a wedding reception venue, party hall, and event space rental facility is stunning. The facility has its public opening on October 21, 2017, and is right now getting its finishing touches. It is beautiful! Downtown Dayton Modeling Session At The Steam Plant Dayton

As a long-time Dayton and Cincinnati professional photographer, I have been able to photograph hundreds of different photography sessions. Of all the sessions I’ve ever photographed, I have only done a single modeling session. In November 2017, I set up a downtown Dayton modeling session with a previous bride and groom (whose wedding was at NCR Country Club) and The Steam Plant Dayton. We spent two hours on a cold Sunday afternoon creating beautiful model portraits of both the husband and wife separately and together. I’d like to thank Emily and Nick as well as The Steam Plant for such a fun two-hour Dayton modeling photography session.
How I Set This Downtown Dayton Modeling Session
Weeks after their wedding, I was still in love with this couple. They were amazing to photograph, and I wanted to do it again. I also wanted to work with Lisa at the Steam Plant to capture the interior again. I legally photograph buildings in my spare time. Check out my other Dayton commercial photography.
I asked Lisa if I could photograph a couple of models in the Steam Plant for two hours. She said yes! Next, I reached out to the couple with an unusual request—would they come downtown for a two-hour modeling session? They agreed and were thrilled.
