I photographed Alan Jackson in concert as he began his 2020 world tour at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center on January 10, 2020. This decades-old area was formerly U.S. Bank Arena, FirstStar Center, The Crown, and Riverfront Coliseum. Steel Blossoms, a house band at Jackson’s Nashville bar opened the show was Steel Blossoms. Tenille Townes was the next opener and played a fantastic set that was lively and entertaining. Alan Jackson was amazing and came out playing to a sold-out audience. During one song, he put down the guitar to throw t-shirts to the crowd.
The Heritage Bank Center is an indoor concert arena between downtown Cincinnati Ohio and the Ohio River. I never considered (before this show) that I’d get to photograph Alan Jackson in concert. I took a moment to be thankful for the opportunity. At the same time, it almost seemed as if Alan was doing the same. He seemed genuinely excited to be there. Some other musicians I’ve seen seem less than thrilled to be there. Future note: This would be the last concert I photograph for a while due to the impending Covid-19 pandemic. It was a great “last concert for a while” to shoot.
It is so cool being a concert photographer!
