On our April 2016 trip to New York City, we walked from our hotel in Times Square all the way to Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Bridge Park. This was a ridiculously long walk but allowed us to see so many unique NYC neighborhoods including Midtown, SoHo, Tribecca, and more. We didn’t take a straight path, rather we zigged zagged through the island. This is a great way to see the island.
Below are some of my favorite images I shot from the park looking toward Manhattan at sunset. New York City’s DUMBO neighborhood is a great photo spot. In the distance are One World Trade, Brooklyn Bridge, and the Empire State Building (on different images). The horizontal/landscape images that have smooth water were long-exposure images. I did not have an ND neutral density filter with me, so this was the longest exposure I could get. This was not the first or last time we’d visited this area of town.
I love the photo of the Empire State Building with the wood post sticking out of the water. They kind of mirror one another and provide a sense of consistency to the photo.
New York City’s DUMBO neighborhood, which stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass,” is a charming area located in the borough of Brooklyn. This once-industrial district has undergone a transformation in recent years and is now a vibrant area with eclectic shops, cafes, and art galleries.
One of the key attractions of this neighborhood is the picturesque Brooklyn Bridge Park, which spans 85 acres along the East River waterfront. This park offers stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, which links the two boroughs together.
Visitors to this park will enjoy various activities, including jogging, biking, or simply strolling along the walking paths. The park also features multiple playgrounds, sports fields, and picnic areas, making it an ideal location for families with children.
Another attraction within the park is the renowned Jane’s Carousel, a beautifully restored vintage ride that is sure to delight both children and adults alike. The park also hosts a range of seasonal events throughout the year, including outdoor movie screenings, concerts, and food festivals.
Overall, a trip to NYC’s DUMBO neighborhood and Brooklyn Bridge Park is a must-see for visitors to the city. With its stunning views, vibrant atmosphere, and range of activities, it is a true gem of Brooklyn and a highlight of any trip to the Big Apple.
