My 90 Minutes At The National Air And Space Museum Virginia

I visited the National Air And Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport in Virginia in 2022. In town for my day job, I made a late afternoon trip to this premiere aviation museum. I only had 90 minutes to create my style of aviation photography, and the results turned out beautifully.

After walking through the front doors, I was intrigued by the pedestrian catwalk system they have in place. I have never been able to get above the airplanes at other museums. Needless to say, I took full advantage by photographing planes from above. You get such a unique perspective when you go outside the normal sightlines that everyone else is seeing.

The Coolest Things At The National Air And Space Museum Virginia

The scope of aircraft this aviation museum has in its collection blew my mind. One of the coolest aircraft in the Smithsonian’s collection has to be an Air France Concorde supersonic jet. This Air France Concorde was a first for me, but I’d soon see another in Seattle later this year.

Additionally, this is the sister property to the giant museum near Dulles Airport in Virginia. From the incredible Wright Brothers’ Flyer to the Apollo 11 Command Module, the museum offers visitors an up-close and personal encounter with rich aviation and space heritage.
