They were a beautiful couple whose outfits were absolutely perfect for the cold park setting. In addition to their fall color outfits, they changed into matching “just married” t-shirts. It is an honor to be the photography recommendation in Dayton for this engaged couple and many more.
I gave them much love for braving the cold with long sleeves. I gave them even bigger props when they walked around in their short sleeves. I believe their wedding was out of town, so they only needed engagement photography. Each year I get a handful of these couples who have ties to Dayton but are getting married elsewhere. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is a big driver of these kinds of couples. Air Force couple stationed here that are from other cities. For the second year in a row, Dayton Magazine’s “Capturing the Big Day” article featured me! I love being a featured Dayton photographer. While not a sexy topic, business practices are an important key to hiring a photographer. You should verify that your photographer holds a valid license and follows your state’s laws. I maintain an active license, pay monthly sales taxes, and carry full insurance. To protect your images, I use a 3-2-1 backup system—three copies stored in two locations, with one secured in the cloud.

Kevin Lush, owner, and photographer with Kevin Lush Photography in Dayton says that couples should make sure to find a professional photographer to guarantee the best results. A legitimate business will have a business license, pay sales tax, and have backups of everything. In addition, couples should expect the photographer to act professionally throughout all their interactions.
“Go with your gut! If you find a photographer you love and they are available on your wedding day but the photographer does not communicate quickly think about choosing another,” says Lush.

“I am not referring specifically to the number of years that a photographer has been in business, instead I am referring to the level of satisfaction that the clients attain starting with the first time that they interact with the photographer, the promptness of the response, under-promising and over-delivering, friendliness, etc. Ultimately, the photographer can deliver amazing images, however, if those images are coupled with slow service and unprofessional conduct the clients will be left wanting more and probably unsatisfied,” he says.”

In 2022 I was honored by Ohio Weddings magazine to be named one of the best wedding photographer in Ohio. Being a Dayton wedding photographer and being recognized in the “Best In Ohio Weddings 2022” is such an honor. Since 2007 I have been photographing weddings in Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, and beyond. It is nice to be recognized for the good quality work I do.
When people like my work, I am always very happy. When an industry publication recognizes my work, I am also grateful. This magazine sat in my mailbox for a couple of days and was wrinkled, so I apologize for the poor quality. Kind of ironic for a photographer. I try to pick up a copy of Ohio Weddings each year to stay on top of trends and to analyze fellow competitors.
Why I Care About This Honor
Being name one of the best wedding photographers in my area is further validation that people like my work. This is exciting but secondary to the love I received from my past wedding clients. I especially love it when I receive a five-star wedding photography review.
