Preen By Appointment Offers Excellent Wedding Prep Areas

Although I don’t normally post about salons, I want to give a huge shout-out to Preen By Appointment in Oakwood, Ohio. This hidden gem in a retro mid-century modern building located on Patterson Road is the best pre-wedding photography location I have had the pleasure of photographing. I want to start off by saying I love the look of this building. It is something straight out of Palm Springs, California (where I coincidentally photographed a wedding).
The two owners are professional, funny, and talented. The space has plenty of light and room for everyone to do hair and makeup. There’s also a small shop inside for clients to browse while waiting. I took the bride to a back conference room and photographed her on a reflective table—something unique I rarely see at weddings. I also loved a frosted door there and used it to split the bride’s face on her left side.

Thanks to the ladies for allowing me to use every inch of this space. In the last photo, the maid of honor gave me a funny look which made for a great photo. I now think about this wedding every time I drive by the building.
