How To Get A Great Shot Walking Down The Aisle

After photographing more than 250 weddings, I have one favorite shot at every wedding. It is when the wedding couple is walking back down the aisle after being introduced by the officiant. “Now introducing Mr. and Mr. Jones!” I love the pure joy and relief on their faces. This is a great shot I look forward to at every wedding.

Why Is This Wedding Moment Important For A Great Shot

Make your wedding day better by making sure you do another kiss when you’re walking back down the aisle. You will be excited and overwhelmed by relief. You’re married finally! I will ask you to stop at the back of the aisle to kiss. It is one of the most beautiful moments to photograph. In the past I felt bad asking, but now I try to make it a part of the day.

The moment is important because all of the anxiety about your ceremony is gone. You haven’t had time to realize yet, but it is gone. You’ve only been married for 30 seconds, and your faces involuntarily express this relief. I will be at the back of you wedding ceremony location to capture this great shot.

Prepping The Wedding Couple Prior To The Ceremony

I would like to think that I prep the couple ahead of time to make this photo a success. However, I have never mentioned to any couple. There is enough going through your head prior to the ceremony. I don’t want to bother you, so I just make a point of stopping you after the ceremony.

Capturing The Moment

When doing photo and video, I will have be capturing video from a tripod next to me. I will stay out of the video and will be capturing photos with my primary camera. This way, I will get both photo and video of my favorite moment of the wedding day. Check out how I photography and film a wedding at the same time.

Being Aware Of My Surroundings

A big part of capturing this moment is ensuring I am not blocking guests and that I will not trip over anything. The post-wedding excitement means I have to be more careful with my movements, especially when walking backwards.

Extra wedding tips: Make sure you write out your speech or vows prior to your wedding day. Be prepared. Don’t use AI / ChatGPT to do it for you. A personalized speech or vows is always well received at a wedding. A photographer who promises a huge quantity of wedding photos may not translate into a high quality of wedding photographs.
