At P!NK’s 2023 Cincinnati concert, Brandi Carlile put on a hell of a show. She was the opening act ahead of P!NK at Great American Ball Park in July. The majority of the crowd was in place to see Brandi perform with hundreds of people sporting Brandi Carlisle T-shirts.

Muna, a great women-led rock band, was the second musical act to open for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in June 2023 at PayCor Stadium in Cincinnati Ohio. They played to a mostly full NFL football stadium that was anxiously awaiting Taylor’s biggest ever concert. Their set was amazing to me, and I got to hear it the next night as well. I am in love with “What I Want” and can’t get enough of it.

Gracie Abrams was the first musical act to open for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in June 2023 at PayCor Stadium in Cincinnati Ohio. She and her band played to a slowly filling football stadium that was anxiously awaiting Taylor’s biggest ever concert. Her set was short and great as expected.

Since the day Taylor Swift announce the Eras Tour concert dates in November 2022, I have been anticipating attending both Cincinnati shows at PayCor Stadium. While Dave Matthews Band has been my favorite band since 1998, Taylor and all she stands for as well as her lyrics have had her at the top of my list for the last 5 years. I had seen her in Indianapolis a long time ago, Lexington in 2015, and Louisville in 2018. So when i saw she was coming close to home, I had to go.

In May 2023 I photographed Dave Matthews Band for the fifth time (and Dave Matthews for the sixth time). This was again at Riverbend Music Center in eastern Cincinnati, Ohio. I am a freelance concert photographer for CityBeat who credentialed me for this show. The Dave Matthews Band delivered an unforgettable performance at the Riverbend Music Center last night. With a crowd of over 20,000 fans, the energy was palpable from the moment the band stepped onto the stage.

In August 2022 I took my wife on our fifth trip to New York City. This trip was a birthday surprise to see the Harry Styles concert opening night at Madison Square Garden. While we spent a few nights in the West Village, we did plenty of sightseeing. Below are some photos of Madison Square Garden from the Moynihan Train Hall.

In March 2023 I photographed the Blake Shelton concert for Cincinnati CityBeat, a great Cincy publication. I know his music but was unsure about my expectations. He put on a great show at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center, and the stage was one of the coolest concert stages I have ever seen.

Jackson Dean opened for Blake Shelton on a warm March evening at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center. He and his band played a quick but beautiful set before the second opener, Carly Pearce took the stage. I really like the lighting used to create a subdued mood for Jackson Dean’s performance.

Carrie Underwood performed a fantastic concert at Cincinnati Ohio’s Heritage Bank Center. I didn’t know what to expect from her show but had been a fan of hers since American Idol. She came out and gave it 100% with her beautifully sound voice. For my three songs, typical for a concert photographer, she energetically danced around the stage. Many times I see artists standing in one spot for the entire show but not her. I was abnormally excited about photographing her for some reason, and the excitement was rewarded with a great show.

In November 2022 I accomplished a photography goal of mine. I photographed Dave Matthews Band (my all-time favorite) at the Nutter Center (my home venue). I have photographed DMB 3 times before and Dave Matthews once before. This was the most meaningful concert I have ever photographed due to the band and the venue. Wright State University’s Nutter Center is a great, easy place to see a concert. I photographed this concert for Cincinnati CityBeat, one of two publications I shoot for.
