The 2024 Billie Eilish concert at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center did not disappoint. I bought these concert tickets for my wife’s birthday, and neither of us had seen Billie before. This show was bound to be filled with great music, interesting visuals, and emotional lyrics. Billie is known for creating captivating lyrics and beats, breaking the molds of the music industry. What we experienced was exactly this.
The number 8-shaped stage was laid out in the center of the arena. The 8 or B looked like you could combine B and a backward E. In keeping with today’s stage technology, the floor was a giant LED screen that displayed beautiful graphics and live video. Laser lights pulsed from the overhead speakers while fire shot up from beneath the stage. This was one of the best stages I have ever seen and easily the fastest-moving visual display as well.
The well-crafted musical performance showcased the quiet moments and her club-beat-sounding songs. “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie motion picture was the highlight of the show for me. Lastly, I am a professional concert photographer, but I was attending as a Billie Eilish fan sitting in section 201. Thankfully, she used the entire stage throughout the show. There were only a few times we could not see her. She acknowledged every section of the crowd and every corner of the arena. While I don’t care for artists pandering to the crowd, I know people get a lot of joy when this happens.
Although not my favorite artist or concert, it was a great show. I had just been to Taylor Swift in Indianapolis 6 days earlier, and Taylor’s show has ruined all future concerts for me.
