Grande Hall Weddings in Downtown Dayton

As a Dayton photographer, photographing this wedding and reception hall in Liberty Tower at The Grande Hall has been a goal of mine. I have photographed two weddings at this Dayton Art Deco venue so far. The first wedding went very well, and the pictures turned out great. That day, we could access the roof for several Dayton rooftop wedding photos. Truly a highlight for me!

The second wedding was even more exciting for me. Later, the second time at this wedding venue I had the chance to take what I learned the first time and take it to a new level. The photos from my second Grande Hall wedding were outstanding, many of which are below. I can’t wait to try my new skills here again.

Grande Hall At Liberty Tower Weddings & Receptions

This Dayton venue has two distinct and unique spaces for uses by guests on a wedding day, the lobby and the mezzanine. Both of the weddings I photographed there utilized both spaces.

Grande Hall Wedding Ceremony and Reception Space

For couples choosing to get married in the Grand Hall, weddings take place on the ground floor – the old bank lobby. The guests are usually seated in rows facing the repurposed bank vault with their backs to the main entrance. Depending on the wedding couple, a decorative wood structure or make shift altar can be brought in for the ceremony. After the ceremony, everyone is moved to the upstairs mezzanine while the lobby is transformed into a beautiful Art Deco reception space. The service team is excellent at making this switch quickly and without incident.

Grande Hall Mezzanine and Cocktail Hour

This spaces is much smaller than the lobby and is just above the bank vault. Based on what I’ve seen, I’m guessing this was an area of offices for bank use. It is actually made of up a couple different spaces smushed together and is perfect for cocktail hour.

Grande Hall Bank Vault

The final area, and by far the most bad ass, is the renovated bank vault, directly in line with the front doors and center of the ceremony. Depending on who is hired to decorate The Grande Hall, there may be color-matched LED lighting in the bank vault that complements the wedding colors. The floor of the vault is made solely of penny rounds, and it is a great detail for this former bank.

Grande Hall Rooftop Wedding Photos

The rooftop, limited to the wedding couple and photographer, is a great place to photograph the wedding couple in front of Dayton’s skyline. This area is weather dependent, and is more dependent on falcon nesting season. This is the only Dayton wedding venue where a space can be off limits due to the presence of wildlife. The falcons at the Liberty Tower are territorial and don’t like to be disturbed.

The Getting Ready Rooms At The Grande Hall

On the east and west sides of the mezzanine are two getting ready rooms for the wedding party. The east room, commonly used when there is a groom and groomsmen, is a former board room for the bank. It has beautiful wood walls that make a nice backdrop for whomever is in the room on a wedding day. On the west side, there is a larger room that I can imagine may have been a break room for bank employees. When a bride is present, this room is for her. There is ample space for a bride, bridesmaids, and more.

About The Grande Hall at Liberty Tower

The Grande Hall is in one of Dayton’s oldest skyscrapers and replaces a former bank. The ground floor, used for wedding ceremonies and receptions, is expansive. The extra large mezzanine upstairs serves as a great cocktail hour location. The bridal suite is large, well-lit, and spacious enough for a big wedding party. This is a high-class establishment. Lastly, I’d be honored to photograph weddings there every week

Overall this is one of Dayton’s best wedding and reception venues!

TIP: Lastly, pay for everyone’s parking to avoid this hassle. No one wants to leave a great wedding at The Grande Hall and have to pay for parking.
