The Lumineers have come around Cincinnati and Columbus several times. I often thought it would be fun to photograph their concert. Until 2025, I never submitted for credentials to their show. Knowing their unique style, I was expecting nothing short of an amazing show. Was I impressed with the show? Keep reading.
In 2025 I photographed The Lumineers concert for Cincinnati CityBeat, an honor I always appreciate. The iteration of their show took place at the Schottenstein Center on the OSU Campus. As a professional concert photographer since 2015, I shoot 2 or 3 shows at this concert venue.
For the Lumineers, were relegated to a front of house (soundboard) shoot. I always prefer to shoot from the pit, but I am also always thankful to just be allowed to photograph a show. Once this concert started, I was surprised at the lack of energy from the band and the crowd. To be fair, the start of many shows is slow as the band gets into the groove. Also, I only get to stay for three songs, so I can’t judge the entire Lumineers show. As the band started off slowly, this was one of the quietest crowds I have heard in a while. I feel like the crowd at the Barry Manilow was much louder. All in all, I was just happy to be there.
I won’t share my exact parking location, but it is absolutely perfect. For every Schottenstein Show ever, I have parked in the same spot. It is amazing and easy to exit from. Parking is regularly $30 and can only be paid by credit card. For concert photographers, there is no discount. The only free parking I have been given (at a show that charges for parking) was the Taylor Swift concert in Cincinnati that I photographed.
