Chicago’s The L Elevated Train The Loop CTA Photos Downtown

In late February 2021, I spent a day scouting engagement photography locations around Chicago. In the process of discovering locations to photograph recently engaged couples in Chicago, I also spent time photographing CTA’s The L, an elevated train/subway system in downtown Chicago. I have always liked trains, but urban subways are a fascination of mine. The Chicago L photos below are of the elevated train line in The Loop and things seen from the Brown Line train to Merchandise Mart.

I love these photos of the train tracks. The first one is by far my favorite. It is the subway tracks between a bunch of skyscrapers looking south. I can’t get over the symmetry of the tracks. Additionally, the curved track photos that I took from high up in a parking garage are also cool. I patiently waited for the trains to come by to get the shot. This took a lot of planning and research to get these.
