The B-17F Memphis Belle arrived at the National Museum Of The United States Air Force in 2005. Shortly after it entered restoration at the museum’s restoration hangar, I had the opportunity to walk through and photograph the airplane while it was in pieces. Then in 2017, I was able to photograph the rear turret installation also in the restoration hangar. Today, March 14, 2018, I had the awesome opportunity to photograph the Memphis Belle as she was rolled to her final resting place inside the World War II gallery in building one at the museum. The process included a photo op with the airplane known as Shoo Shoo Baby which is destined for the Smithsonian Institution.
The B-17f Memphis Belle is currently undergoing a complete restoration at the At National Museum Of The United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. The Memphis Belle has been at NMUSAF since 2005 and is set to go on display in May 2018! Today the Memphis Belle received her rear turret for the final time. We were invited to watch as three restoration artists connected the rear turret to the rest of the plane. What a fun time!
Sunday, June 25, 2017, just after dawn I had near-exclusive access to a guest-less Vectren Dayton Air Show for two hours. Of the 200 images I shot, the images of the F-35 Lightning fighter jet, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds,GEICO Skytypers, B-1 Bomber and more are my favorites. The annual event was held at the Dayton International Airport.
B-25 Mitchell Doolittle Tokyo Raid 75th anniversary reunion happened on April 17, 2017, at National Museum Of The United States Air Force. The images below are from the public aircraft display on April 16, 2017. The Tokyo Doolittle Raiders were American heroes, and these military aircraft honor those brave airmen.
Last week to celebrate The Green Hornets’ heroic missions, the United States Air Force had a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey landing at the National Museum Of The United States Air Force. Thanks to the kind folks at the museum for allowing me to photograph this vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
The XB-70 Valkyrie takes has a huge footprint at the National Museum Of The United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio. This is such a beautiful and odd aircraft. One of my favorite aviation photos I’ve ever taken was of the six massive engines taken from a scissor lift. See it below!
