Jackson Dean opened for Blake Shelton on a warm March evening at Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center. He and his band played a quick but beautiful set before the second opener, Carly Pearce took the stage. I really like the lighting used to create a subdued mood for Jackson Dean’s performance.
Carrie Underwood performed a fantastic concert at Cincinnati Ohio’s Heritage Bank Center. I didn’t know what to expect from her show but had been a fan of hers since American Idol. She came out and gave it 100% with her beautifully sound voice. For my three songs, typical for a concert photographer, she energetically danced around the stage. Many times I see artists standing in one spot for the entire show but not her. I was abnormally excited about photographing her for some reason, and the excitement was rewarded with a great show.
In November 2022 I accomplished a photography goal of mine. I photographed Dave Matthews Band (my all-time favorite) at the Nutter Center (my home venue). I have photographed DMB 3 times before and Dave Matthews once before. This was the most meaningful concert I have ever photographed due to the band and the venue. Wright State University’s Nutter Center is a great, easy place to see a concert. I photographed this concert for Cincinnati CityBeat, one of two publications I shoot for. Check out my Dave Matthews Band concert photos here.
In July 2022 I photographed Earth Wind And Fire at Rose Music Center in Huber Heights Ohio. I was impressed with their live sound and how many musicians were on stage. The Rose Music Center is the perfect outdoor live music venue in Dayton, and I love photographing concerts there. I was on a freelance assignment from CincyMusic.com who published my concert photos here.
A concert photographer’s rite of passage is to photograph the rock and roll band, KISS. Recently, I got my chance thanks to one of two great Cincinnati publications that I shoot for. This concert was at Wright State University’s E.J. Nutter Center in Dayton Ohio.
In October 2023 The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks) put on a very energetic show to a sold-out crowd at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center. October is late for an outdoor show, so everyone was in jackets which was weird but still fun. The original show was scheduled for one of the hottest days of the year in July I think. Right before the show, it got postponed due to illness. I was thankful because it was way too hot to be seeing an outdoor show. Emily, Marty, and Natalie played a long concert filled with their best hits. It was the best I’ve seen them out of the 5 times so far.
I photographed the Andrew J Brady Music Center several times in Cincinnati Ohio. This incredible indoor and outdoor live music venue sits between Paycor Stadium and Great American Ball Park as part of The Banks. The indoor concert venue which has outstanding acoustics, holds 4000 people. The ICON Festival Stage outside facing east holds 7000 people standing only.
As a professional concert photographer in Ohio, I love to shoot at new venues. I recently had the opportunity to photograph Billy Joel at Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds. For this show, I was shooting for Cincinnati CitBeat one of two publications that I work for. The night turned out great but our situation was less than stellar.
In 2022 I requested to photograph Garth Brooks at PayCor Stadium, formerly Paul Brown Stadium. Months went by with me as the backup photographer for Cincinnati CityBeat. I hadn’t requested the show in time. 24 hours before the show, I got a call from my credentialing contact saying the other photographer was sick. I jumped on the opportunity to photograph arguably the biggest name ever in music.
As a professional concert photographer, I try to shoot the shows of the biggest stars in music. When I saw Celine Dion was coming to town, I decided to request the show. This October 2019 show was at U.S. Bank Center (now Heritage Bank Center) in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was shooting for one of my two publications based in Cincy.
